IMP student lands dream job with Arm Technology

Ritish, who graduated in 2018, has started working in the Information Technology Agile Delivery department and is currently placed under product delivery. He works closely with resource management and the delivery management office, where the main objective is to drive agile practices and results along with management of Information Technology resources. Starting his rotation this week, Ritish will be splitting his time between business function and User Experience.

Arm Technology develop innovative technology driven solutions, in infrastructure ranging from AI computer processing chips, Smart Cities and 5G infrastructure to security, smart building and healthcare. From technological research innovation and cloud computing to life-changing technology solutions, such as machine learning and disruptive technologies in VR and automotive, they are responsible for manufacturing 95% of the world’s chips.

Arm approximately produces and ships 90 billion processors every year to run smart phones, vehicle engines, printers, televisions, cloud servers and medical devices. Based in Cambridge, the Company is at the heart of the fourth industrial revolution and connectivity revolution, playing a key part in transforming the way people live and how businesses operate.

Speaking about his new job, Ritish said: “This is an opportunity of a lifetime and the Masters course has transformed my entire life. We went through a series of challenging interviews, where my Course Leader and mentor really helped me personally. The culture of the MA Interactive Media practice course is identical to the culture of Arm, including team work, critical thinking, problem solving and being interdisciplinary through technology and design methods, which really prepared me for this role.

“Arm takes personal development of staff very seriously they have provided me with a small fund for wellbeing and personal development where I get to work with lots of different teams on exciting new projects. The Course Leader has been instrumental in transitioning me from a student to a graduate gaining my dream job in such a short period of time; my journey at Westminster has been exceptional.”

Sharing his thoughts on this alumni success, Course Leader Savraj Matharu said: “It’s great to see our students perform and excel at this level. Arm are based opposite Cambridge University, so it’s great to see students from Westminster being recruited outside of the Cambridge talent pipeline.

“This is a great testament of the work and dedication we place into our curriculum and practice-led, innovative research in order to produce successful alumni. The fourth Industrial revolution will be transformative in our society and an organisation like Arm will play a pivotal role towards this. In line with our University’s strategic objectives, we will be working more closely with Arm in various digital capacities, and it’s always a pleasure to see our students and alumni shaping the future at this exceptional level.”
